The Indiana Pacers delivered a performance for the ages on Thursday night as they dismantled the Washington Wizards 162-109 in a game that rewrote the franchise’s record books. The Pacers set multiple records in the action-packed matchup at the Capital One Arena, including the most points in a single game in team history and the highest point total by any NBA team this season.

The Indiana Pacers dominated the Washington Wizards with 162 points

Indiana came out firing on all cylinders, racking up 45 points in the opening quarter. By halftime, they had already tallied 83 points. The Washington Wizards, on the other hand, were scrambling to keep pace. The offensive onslaught didn’t stop there, as the Pacers poured in another 42 points in the third quarter, stretching their lead to a stunning 37 points before the final period.

The Pacers finished with a staggering 162 points— breaking their previous record of 157, which had stood since last season.
“It’s obviously fun to watch when you’re coaching the team making all the shots,” the Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle said. “But there was a spirit of unselfishness which is really what Indiana’s about.”

The Pacers were lethal from beyond the arc, draining a franchise-record 27 three-pointers. Their precision shooting led to a scorching 64% field goal percentage for the night. Indiana dished out 48 assists on 59 made baskets, which is, again, a season-high for the squad.
Tyrese Haliburton spearheaded the scoring surge with 29 points, hitting seven of the team’s 27 threes. “I had a couple go in early that felt awful leaving my hands,” Haliburton admitted. “That’s when I knew I had it going tonight.”
Nine Pacers players reached double figures. T.J. McConnell nearly recorded a triple-double off the bench with 10 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists. Myles Turner contributed 17 points, while Andrew Nembhard and McConnell each tallied eight assists.
On the other side, rookie Alex Sarr led Washington with 22 points, but the Wizards struggled mightily, getting out-rebounded by 19 and making just 11 three-pointers compared to Indiana’s 27. The loss dropped Washington to 16-57, the worst record in the Eastern Conference.
The blowout win came just one night after a heartbreaking defeat to the Los Angeles Lakers, where LeBron James sealed the game with a buzzer-beating tip-in.
“Last night was rough. It was rough on everybody,” Carlisle said. “Today we had a short meeting to turn the page, concentrate on these guys.”
